Poem: “Smile”

Standard

I wanted to write something a little more upbeat after this week’s poem.  I’m still ruminating on this one, but I plan to read some iteration of it at next week’s Poetry Club.

We’re so busy, we’re just passing by.

But we spare a moment to look each other in the eye.

It’s a connection, a bright spark.

Two chemicals reacting to leave their mark.

It’s that brief moment that lifts the day a while,

That cheerfully fleeting friendly smile.
