Book Review: ‘Twas the Nate Before Christmas by Sophie Sloan

Genre: Contemporary Romance / Christmas Story

Overall: 3-stars

About: Daisy Duque recently moved to England and is settling into the holiday season when she meets Nate. They have a few mishaps along the way that involve mansions, celebrities, and falling at his feet.

Review: This was cute. The writing is good on grammar and spelling. The storyline was cute. The main character is a little bit over the top, but it’s still a cute storyline. The main thing that makes me give this only three stars is the fact that author uses real celebrities in it. I would have liked the story a little bit more if the author had taken the time to build up her own celebrities, and a bit more of her own world. It always makes me feel a little bit uncomfortable when I read people writing about real live people, it smacks of fanfiction rather than professional writing. However, putting that part aside the story was really cute. An American in England meets a charismatic Englishman by literally falling at his feet. A few more trips, literal, and they start dating. A hint of mistaken identity and some funny hijinks and you have a cute romance. There’s no sex in this one, but it is sweet.

Why you should read/get it: You want a cute Christmas Story. You like all things England. You have a thing for George Harrison.
